Apple has recently invested in a company that is renowned for making accurate GPS tools and we are pretty sure that the Cupertino giant has taken this step so that it can revamp the mapping tool of its next generation mobile platform i.e. iOS 9 and enhance its features as well.
Coherent Navigation, the mapping company that has earned a lot of fame within a short span of time was overtaken by Apple just before releasing iOS 9 in the WWDC. LinkedIn has reported that since the merger of this startup mapping company with Apple, many of its employees have moved into to Apple and started working from there.
MacRumors was the first to report about this merger between this two companies and thereafter Apple confirmed the news by issuing a statement that “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans”.
Apple prime focus while developing iOS 9 has been to make the platform much more stable and enhance its functionality. Therefore, we are not expecting any major updates in this platform. One of the major change that we are expecting Apple to introduce in the next generation platform is to make its iOS map app all the more dynamic by including public transport option along with walking and driving.
Apple has first introduced the map app in 2012 by replacing Google map with its own built in software. Since then it has faced a lot of criticism as it was not at par with Google Map. However, in the course of time this app has been updated and therefore the critiques are quite impressed with the way it works. However, inclusion of the public transport feature in the map app has become quite a necessity after the introduction of Apple watch.
Apart from revamping the Map App, Apple also plans to improvise the function of famous Siri and include features whereby it will be easier to sync iPhones with Apple watch.
