At the Worldwide Developer’s Conference 2015, on 8th June, Apple has yet again proved to be at the top of its game by announcing some features that iOS 9 will be equipped with. In the two and a half hour keynote, most of the focus was on improvements in iOS 9 for both iPhone and iPads. The improved software is set to officially release later this year. From what can be gauged from the speech, here are top 10 reasons why iOS 9 seems to be the smartest version Apple has designed:
UDID Activation :
1. Smarter Siri
Apple’s most unique feature is said to be Siri. In iOS 9, Siri will be able to do much more than what it already does. From bringing up photos from a particular date or place to setting specific reminders for a later date, Siri will be able to do it all. The innovative digital assistant has been improved by reducing its word error rate by 40% and faster responses.
2. Proactive Assistant
The highlight of the new operating system is the Proactive Assistant feature. This feature aims to let your phone know you without compromising on your privacy. The information used by this feature will restrict the information to the device only. However, some data, such as that about your daily commute route, will be kept anonymous and will not be sold to third parties. Some of the features of this new Proactive Assistant are really intriguing. For instance, if you go out running in every morning at a particular time and listen to a certain kind of music, Proactive Assistant will automatically bring up a playlist on your homescreen at the particular time every day. It will also scan through your emails and to ID a call from an unknown number.
3. Maps have improved
Since the launch of its own mapping system in iOS 6, Apple has only improved the system with every update, but it focused mainly on correcting the previous errors. Now, after three years of its launch, the system finally has the public transit information. Extra effort has been put into it to provide a detailed GPS system this time around.
4. News App
The News App by Apple is now much more interactive than before. Even the print magazines will come with increased interactivity. The App will learn your preferences and interests and it will suggest information accordingly.
5. Expansion of Apple Pay
By July, Apple is hoping to expand the support of the Apple Pay app to over 1 million locations, including in the UK. Besides that, Apple Pay will also support more cards such as credit cards, debit cards and even loyalty cards.
6. Multi-support window
For the iPad update, it will now support multi-tasking with multiple windows. For example, you can slide in a new window on the existing one to get a quick glance while you continue with the work on the first window. You can even switch between apps.
7. Swift 2
Apple’s own developer’s program will offer new features along with improved performance while creating faster apps.
8. Longer battery life
Apple has promised to elongate the battery life of the device by one hour when you install iOS 9 on your hardware. By disabling the more battery consuming apps, you can increase the battery life by three to four hours easily since Apple has now incorporated its Watch’s power-conservation technology to other devices.
9. Notes App
Owing to iOS, you can now directly save information to the Notes App from other apps, using shortcut keys. You can even draw doodles, add photos from the library and format the text in your note.
10. Spotlight search
Shifted to the left of the home screen, it will still be accessible from its previous location. Spotlight search will showcase new widgets, contacts and apps along with Siri suggestions based on your usage behavior.
The extensive list of cool new features to be launched in iOS 9 will surely take the world for a joyride.
